National Feast of Lanterns

The National Feast of Lanterns, otherwise known as NFOL,is the Club’s national rally which takes place every year and is organised by members, for members.

It is a unique event where members can meet, and make, friends who share their passion for camping, whilst enjoying great entertainment and the beautiful British countryside.  It’s a fabulous, long standing Club tradition and the largest rally of its kind for all forms of camping.

The first NFOL was held in 1921 and it still continues to uphold its traditions.  In the early years of the festival, members would celebrate the end of the camping year with old lanterns to light their meet.

Lighting up is still a key tradition however members now decorate their units with everything from tea lights to generator powered fairy lights creating beautiful street scenes.  The theme for this year is “World of Movies”.   NFOL also holds an annual themed Mardi Gras parade, plus there is a Club pennon parade where Regions, Sections and DA’s join together to parade their colours .

In 2016 the NFOL will be hosted by Cambrian and Wyvern Region and will be held at Malvern Showground over the August Bank Holiday weekend. There is plenty of entertainment including live music, circus acts, children’s fun fair rides, go karting, stunt displays, dog show and much more.  There really is something for everyone.

Whilst at the NFOL you might like to explore the Malvern Hills.  You can enjoy over 3000 acres of open countryside or ramble through the wooded slopes.
