COULD YOU BE OUR NEXT CLUB CAMPSITE COOK OF THE YEAR?
Do you enjoy cooking on a campsite? Can you rustle up a camping-friendly feast on a gas stove or barbecue?
We will be holding our CADAC cook-off at:
Central Counties Regional Meet hosted by North Warwick’s DA. at:
Hampton House Farm, Kineton, CV35 0JH, Friday 16th – 18th June.
Interested? Request an entry form from your DA secretary by May 20th.
The essence of the competition is to demonstrate skill and creativity in producing a simple campsite meal beyond burgers and sausages.
We are asking entrants to send us their recipe for one main course meal. This meal must be a camping-friendly recipe, one that is possible to prepare and cook at your pitch on a bbq grill or gas stove. (No ovens, microwaves or electric appliances allowed)
The actual cooking time (not including prep) must be 30 minutes or under.
The recipes will be judged on suitability for campsite cooking, creativity, and in particular the judges will be looking for a meal that embraces the spirit of our EatLocal campaign, whether it’s using a fresh local, seasonal ingredient, incorporates a regional cheese, beer or fruit or perhaps just taking inspiration from a regional dish or flavour.
From easy but tasty one pan suppers, exciting salads, vegetarian feast, a fabulous fish dish, great grilled meats to pasta with a twist…. anything goes, we are looking to be inspired.
In August 2017, all regional / section winners’ recipes will be judged by the Eat Local team at HQ and eight winners invited to take part in the exciting cook-off final at the Cadac stand, NFOL at 4.30pm on Saturday 26th August, 2017. The overall winner will be presented with a Club Cook of the Year trophy and a fantastic patio barbecue. The winning recipe will also be published in the Eat Local pages of the magazine.
There are fantastic runner-up prizes too.
Please find below the booking form for 2017 Regional Meet.
We wanted to give you plenty of notice of a few small tweaks we are making to the Regional Meet. For 2017 we are swapping the Mardi Gras for “Best Decorated Street”. We will still have the large groups, small groups and individual displays, and we will all be responsible for voting for the best DA’s. All DA’s have had their nominated Carry On film, and we really look forward to seeing the displays you all bring along.
Secondly, the Sunday games will have a twist too. These will be more along the lines of “It’s a Knockout”. Again, lots of inter DA comaradarie, but be prepared to get wet!
We have a barn on site, with a real ale bar and live entertainment Friday and Saturday night. Saturday night would be great to also see you all dressed up still and feel free to decorate your tables.
The members of the Central Counties Regional Committee would like to wish one and all a very Happy Christmas.
Wishing you good health, happiness and happy camping for 2017.
Please take a look at the activities that were held at the Goose Fair Meet 2016. Booking forms for 2017 will be available from Notts DA in February 2017.
